In 2007, I had a traffic accident that left me with a blocked vein and I had to visit many hospitals in Kayseri. The wrong treatments made my legs even worse. They told me that my legs would be amputated. At the end of 17-18 years, I met my esteemed Prof. Dr. Suat DOĞANCI on recommendation. As a result of the stents he inserted in the abdominal area, I was almost reborn. I express my endless gratitude to my esteemed Suat teacher and his team who brought me back to life after 18 years … May God be pleased with him and his team…

"Reliable, Fast, and Professional!"
I went to Suat for a routine check-up and he told me that I had venous insufficiency. After a very explanatory and long examination, it turned out that I needed surgery. I trust my doctor very much. We immediately planned the date of surgery. The operation was very successful. I am a person who gets very flustered in such situations. Suat’s positivity, excellent knowledge and explanatory nature gave me one hundred percent confidence. I cannot thank him enough. I recommend it to everyone. Prof. Dr. Suat Doğancı, I wish every physician was like you. You are an exemplary person, may your success continue and your path always be clear. I’m glad you’re here. 🙏

I had venous stenting surgery in 2022 to our very valuable suat teacher. When I went to him again, he examined and interpreted the problem in my veins in detail. He is extremely talented and successful in vein occlusions. If you have a disease such as DVT, I can only pass his success in the field.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can find answers to some of your questions about varicose veins in this area. Please contact us for questions you cannot find the answer to.

What is varicose veins and how does it occur?

Varicose veins are a vascular disease in which the veins become enlarged, tortuous and prominent. Vein valves normally allow blood to flow in one direction, but when these valves are weakened or damaged, blood escapes backwards and pools in the veins, causing varicose veins. This is particularly common in the legs because gravity makes it difficult for blood to move upwards.

Who is more prone to varicose veins?

Varicose veins are more common in women and genetic predisposition is an important factor. If there is a family history of varicose veins, the risk of developing varicose veins increases. Varicose veins may occur more frequently in people who stand for long periods of time or work sitting at a desk for long periods of time. Pregnancy, hormone changes, obesity and aging are among other factors that trigger varicose veins.

What are the symptoms of varicose veins?

The most obvious symptoms of varicose veins include pain in the legs, a feeling of heaviness and occasional swelling. It is also typical for the veins to become prominent and turn purple, blue or greenish in color. Later in the day or after standing for a long time, the legs may cramp, itch and burn. These symptoms can become more severe over time and can negatively affect the patient’s quality of life.

How is varicose veins treated?

Lifestyle changes are primarily recommended in the treatment of varicose veins. Regular exercise, weight control and avoiding long periods of inactivity can alleviate varicose veins. Compression compression stockings can also reduce symptoms by supporting circulation. More advanced treatment methods include methods such as laser or radiofrequency therapy, which apply heat energy to the veins. Sclerotherapy is a procedure in which a special medicine is injected into the vein to close it. In severe cases, surgery may be required and the varicose veins may be removed.

How can I prevent varicose veins?

It is important to adopt an active lifestyle to prevent varicose veins. It is necessary to keep the leg muscles active by avoiding standing or sitting for long periods of time. Regular exercise, especially activities such as walking and swimming, can prevent varicose veins by supporting blood circulation. Resting the legs by lifting them up occasionally and drinking plenty of water can help circulation. In addition, more comfortable and supportive shoes should be preferred instead of tight clothes and high-heeled shoes.

What happens if varicose veins are not treated?

Untreated varicose veins can lead to more serious health problems over time. Chronic pain and leg fatigue can negatively affect the patient's daily life. In advanced stages, skin discoloration, sores (venous ulcers) and hardening of the skin may occur. In some cases, inflammation of the veins (thrombophlebitis) may develop and the risk of blood clot formation increases. In rare cases, bleeding can occur in varicose veins. Therefore, it is important that people who experience symptoms of varicose veins consult a doctor and start appropriate treatment.
